We are happy to announce that CESC SWRO has achieved the LEED O+M v4.1 Platinum Certification. This is the 17th project of CESC with Conserve as their Sustainability Consultant.
CESC, India’s pioneering integrated electrical utility company since 1899, illuminates Kolkata and Howrah with power generation and distribution. As the sole distributor within a 567 sq km area, CESC serves 3.4 million consumers ranging from domestic to industrial and commercial users. Their commitment extends beyond conventional power plants, including a 600 MW Haldia Thermal project and solar power plants in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu (with a combined capacity of 27 MW).
The CESC South West Regional Office (SWRO) in Kolkata stands tall with G+4 floors, covering a built-up area of 35,900 sq ft. Let’s explore their sustainability journey.
During the certification process, CESC SWRO encountered a critical challenge to reduce their energy bills. Their AC System Transition: Converting split AC units to more efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. All this had to be done with proper engineering of fresh air to meet the LEED Compliances. As consultants, Conserve stepped in to guide CESC SWRO through this transisiton.
